Where I've been...

Hi ladies & gents. It's been awhile. I've been working hard, taking lots of photos. I'm retooling and switching my blog over to WordPress over the next week or two. It'll allow me to do a whole lot more creatively.

The exciting news: I'm now photographing full-time. Much of the work I've been doing lately is food-related, which is so much fun--I'm working with a cookbook author as well as some food bloggers and I'll soon be launching a big food photography project that I'm really proud of. But I'm still doing a little bit of everything (in fact, just this past weekend I photographed a wedding, and I've got several headshot bookings coming up).

ENGAGED: Jordan & Elsa

I had the privilege to shoot engagement pictures today for my dear friends Jordan & Elsa, who live in San Antonio. They fell in love in Chicago, so we spent several hours visiting different places around the city that meant something special to them. Here are a couple of their teaser photos. Congratulations guys! I can't wait to photograph the wedding!

Beautiful Bella

In March I visited friends in San Antonio who have a beautiful daughter, Bella, and a funny little pug named Miss Vanilla Pinch.

Aidan

Also on February 7th, I photographed the gorgeous little Aidan. His baby blues are just stunning, and I'll bet he's gonna be a heartbreaker when he's old enough to think girls don't have cooties anymore! He was such a ham and we had such a good time together! I'll be seeing Aidan again soon in the spring because his mom already booked me for some family photos at their new home. I can't wait to work with this little guy again!






They also had me design a Valentine's day e-card for them to send to family & friends with one of the photos from their session!

Baby Olivia

On February 7th, I had the pleasure of photographing newborn Olivia! She was born January 21st, so she was about 2.5 weeks old when I met her. She is such a delightful baby and has amazing facial expressions for being so young! She was very cooperative and we only had to take a break a couple of times for a bottle.
Congratulations, Katie & Brad! Your little girl is so beautiful and sweet!

Baby Alexis

Back in January, I headed over to the Hill household to take some photos of their one-month-old Alexis. This was not my first time meeting (or photographing!) Alexis - I visited her mom in the hospital the day after Alexis was born back on December 10, 2008 to take some REAL newborn photos. So far as I can tell, Alexis mostly looks like her Daddy and likes to make serious faces to show she means business.




Alexis' mom, Christina, also asked me to design their birth announcement to send to family and friends! Here's how it turned out:

ENGAGED: Josie & Marko

Josie & Marko were a little reserved at first - until we started getting kicked around by the security guards at the Art Institute. (No, you really can't touch ANYTHING there!) When they loosened up we had some fun walking around the museum and getting lost before we decided to brave the cold and check out some other locations around town. These guys are getting married next fall at Dreams Resort & Spa in Tulum, México.

ENGAGED: Jaime & Woody

I certainly had a good time with these guys! Jaime & Woody were such an active couple and were all about going ice skating in Millennium Park in the bitter cold. We hung out outdoors for most of their session, but they were good sports the whole way through even when Woody didn't have any gloves while skating! (Oh, and Woody's real name is Greg, in case you were wondering.) They're getting married April 16th at the Azul Sensatori Resort in Riviera Maya, México.

ENGAGED: Jaymie & Ales

This next couple, Jaymie & Ales, has 4-year-old twin boys, but you'd never know it by how energetic they are! We had a lot of fun together - and maybe Ales had a little too much fun when we did some photos at a lounge (guys, my sock is still slightly stained with grenadine, haha)! Seriously though, Jaymie & Ales are one of those couples that even though they've been together for a long time, they haven't lost their spark. They're getting married May 4th at the Dreams Resort & Spa in Cancún, México. Best wishes to you guys!

ENGAGED: Nina & Matt

Nina and Matt were...how shall I say...daring! This couple was so fun to work with! They were full of ideas and ready and willing to do anything. They're having a destination wedding this coming July 18th at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancún, México.

In January...

I was very busy! I teamed up with two other photographers for a marathon photo shoot weekend. We did 7 boudoir sessions at the Dana Hotel in downtown Chicago on Saturday, January 17, and 4 engagement photo sessions the following day (all of which were lucky couples who won a contest we ran together in December).

I've finally gotten around to editing some photos I took during my Christmas vacation to Mexico City to visit our family! Who doesn't love a piñata on Christmas?!
